Do you think summer is synonymous with reading road trips? So does writer Terri Peterson Smith. That’s why she combined all of those elements in her new book — “Off the Beaten Page: The Best Trips for Lit Lovers, Book Clubs, and Girls on Getaways.”
Lucky for the literati, Galleria fits into this picture in a big way. “I spend a lot of time at Barnes & Noble,” she said. “One of my book clubs has their annual planning session there. We sit in the Starbucks cafe downstairs and choose our books for the year.” It’s hard to argue that you’re surrounded by inspiration from that corner.
She also stops by Three Rooms and is a fan of their literary birdhouses that feature vintage books repurposed as roofs for winged creatures. Her other favorites? “I also hit Williams-Sonoma and Pottery Barn whenever I have gifts to buy, Admittedly, they’re sometimes gifts for myself. And, I like to meet friends at Crave and Big Bowl,” she said.
One place where you’ll definitely find Terri — at a signing and discussion at Barnes & Noble to discuss her book — maybe she’ll even share what books are on her club’s list for the year.
