The Giving Season

1116 galleria 2‘Tis the season to be jolly, but part of that includes giving back. That’s easier than ever thanks to stores that have opportunities to donate to the community as you do your holiday shopping.

“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another,” said Charles Dickens.

Here are some of the places at Galleria where you can shop and donate.

Polarn O. Pyret: Kids sure outgrow their outerwear fast. Donate a gently used coat, snowsuit or snowpants at Polarn O. Pyret USA and take 30% off a new regular-priced piece of outwear. They’ll donate the collected gear to the Salvation Army. (Through Dec. 22)

Northface: During the food and fund drive, you can donate non-perishable food items in a bin at customer service. The goal is to drop off 1,000 pounds of food to Second Harvest Heartland.  (Through 12/15.)

Tumi, Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids: The trio of stores is offering to donate a portion of proceeds from select products to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a pediatric treatment and research facility focused on children’s catastrophic diseases. Tumi is donating $25 of the price of the signature green luggage tag. At Pottery Barn, 50% of a special collection of mercury glass will benefit the Hospital. And, at Pottery Barn Kids, 25% of the purchase price of the St. Jude Give Back Bears will go the cause. (While supplies last.)
